Where Can I Find Healthy Recipes Online?

Looking for healthy recipes and food ideas online.

After Weight Loss Surgery, the focus is changing your habits and turning your food intake on its head.

It's a steep learning curve indeed, but these days we have the blessing of the internet and technology to help us find all the right solutions to support us along the way.

We have never had access to as much information right at our fingertips as we do in today's fast-paced world. It seems whatever we are looking for is just a swipe and a click away, but how can we be sure the information we find is supportive. How do we work through the maze of marketing messages to get reliable information we can implement, supporting our goals after WLS.

So let's walk you through not only our raft of recipes, blogs, and other related content. Showing you where you can go for food ideas, recipes and apps that will make your journey not only effective - but safe as well.

When it comes to eating well after WLS, you'll hear a lot about high protein and low carb eating. We have a range of recipe E- books you can download FREE hereNow you know what we provide. Let's talk about what to look for in a recipe for you to know you are making the right and safe choices on autopilot once you have the gist.

What should I be looking for in a recipe?

I always weigh up the protein and carbs content and look at what type of carbs. For example - which one would you choose as a helpful bariatric recipe?
Fettuccini carbonara or slow-cooked lamb and veggie curry?

The fettuccini dish - I automatically know it predominantly has carbs, gluten, creamy sauce and processed meat - so it gets a NO from me unless I am digressing for a special occasion.

The lamb dish - ticks all my boxes for protein, low-fat cream sauce, veggies all in one place, and slow-cooked is often easier to digest as well.

Key things to look for when making food decisions:

  • Is it helpful for what I am trying to achieve?
  • Is it protein-rich?
  • Does it contain plants?
  • What is it held together with? Gluten, fats, fillers, pastry are all a consideration.
  • What is the fat content?
  • What type of fat does it contain?  Saturated or Unsaturated?
  • How is it cooked? Baked, fried, steamed, poached, or grilled all have different effects on our food.
  • Do I enjoy the recipe ingredients?
  • Does it contain healthy carbs?
  • Can I make it ahead of time and portion it out for other meals?
  • How processed is the food? What's been done to the original ingredients?
  • Is there added salt, preservatives, and trans fats?

Now you know what to look for - here are some trusted sources for you to seek your next batch of yummy foods.
